Kay Kelts, DO:

Dr. Kay Kelts is the current Associate Program Director at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center Family Medicine Residency in Elmira NY as well as the Regional Dean of Medical Students for LECOM – Elmira Campus.  While holding these positions, she still enjoys seeing patients in her own clinic within Arnot Medical Services.  She started her medical career at Rocky Vista University College of Osteopathic Medicine (RVUCOM) with their inaugural class.  During this time, she assisted with starting the pre-doctoral OPP (Osteopathic Principles and Practice) fellowship and was part of the first three OPP fellows that graduated from RVUCOM.  This is where her love of teaching and osteopathy was cultivated. After medical school, Dr. Kelts completed her family medicine residency at Advocate Lutheran General Family Medicine Residency in Park Ridge, IL.  She completed two areas of concentration while at Lutheran General in faculty development as well as obstetrics.  After residency, Dr. Kelts joined as full time core faculty at Advocate Lutheran General Family Medicine Residency practicing full scope family medicine - OB with low risk deliveries, inpatient, outpatient and nursing home.  She assisted them in creating an Osteopathic curriculum and obtaining Osteopathic Recognition.  During this time, her husband matched into a gastroenterology fellowship in Elmira NY which brought the family their next adventure.  The Kelts family with their two children and dogs moved to Elmira NY in 2017.  Dr. Kelts was able to step into the role of associate program director shortly after joining the faculty at Arnot Ogden Medical Center.  She continues to love to teach both residents and medical students.  She works with an amazing family medicine program which is innovative and enjoys cultivating further change to help the program grow. One example of this is creating a yearly suboxone waiver course for all the residents and local providers in the area to help combat and understand the opioid crisis. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends.  Her children are currently 5 yo and 3 yo.  The Kelts family loves the southern tier region of NY with all of the outdoor activities.
