New Faculty Scholars Program

Designed to be a catalyst for developing future STFM and academic family medicine leaders. The New Faculty Scholars program provides one year of coaching, learning, and networking opportunities both with senior leadership and other new faculty. You will present at the STFM Spring Annual Conference and be recognized as a New Faculty Scholar. The program funds registration and up to $1,000 in travel/hotel expense to the Annual Conference through the STFM Foundation.

New Faculty Scholars must be STFM members who have served at least 2 years but no more than 4 years as full-time faculty and who exhibit outstanding leadership potential.

Since its inception in 1988, this program has supported 199 new faculty as a beneficial way to develop leaders and leadership skills.

Dedicated Funding for Underrepresented in Medicine Faculty
Thanks to the generous support from donors to the Underrepresented in Medicine (URM) Campaign, the STFM Foundation is able to provide additional mentoring and scholarship opportunities that contribute to a diverse family medicine workforce. This year, additional dedicated funding is available for URM faculty applicants to the New Faculty Scholars Program.
The Association of American Medical Colleges defines underrepresented in medicine as: those racial and ethnic populations that are underrepresented in the medical profession relative to their numbers in the general population.
