New Task Force Will Develop Health Systems Curriculum
September 24, 2020—The following STFM members have been appointed to an STFM task force that will develop resources to train family medicine educators and learners on the business of medicine:

University of Florida - Margaret Baumgarten, MD
Eastern Virginia Medical School - Jonathan Lichkus, MD, MPH
Greater Lawrence Family Health Center - Sabrina Mitchell, DO
St Mary’s Family Medicine Residency - Margot Savoy, MD, MPH
Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University
The task force, which is part of STFM's new initiative to position academic family medicine in health systems, will:
- Identify or develop curriculum for residents that covers the ACGME requirements for systems-based practice
- Develop online and in-person training for faculty on:
- Health systems structure
- Health systems finances
- Working within a health system
- Educating residents and students about health systems
- Becoming a leader in a health system
- Analyzing data for health systems
- Identify opportunities to weave health systems leadership training into STFM fellowships
The curriculum will be released in mid to late 2021.
