Faculty for Tomorrow Resident Scholarship

The STFM Foundation supports multiple scholarships to cover registration fees for residents to attend the full-day Faculty for Tomorrow Workshop and the STFM Annual Spring Conference. Scholarship recipients are chosen based on essays they have written to answer the questions "Why are you interested in teaching family medicine?" and "How do you think you can make a difference in the future of family medicine?"

Dedicated Funding for Underrepresented in Medicine Residents

Thanks to generous support from donors to the Underrepresented in Medicine Campaign, the STFM Foundation is able to provide additional scholarships for underrepresented in medicine applicants. The Association of American Medical Colleges defines underrepresented in medicine as: “those racial and ethnic populations that are underrepresented in the medical profession relative to their numbers in the general population.

Scholarship applicants must meet all of the following criteria:

Be a resident who is strongly interested in a career in academic family medicine
Be a current member of STFM
Plan to attend the Faculty for Tomorrow Preconference Workshop held 1 day prior to the STFM Annual Spring Conference

Applications for the 2025 scholarship is closed. Applications for the 2026 scholarship will be accepted in September–October 2025.

To apply for a scholarship, you will need to:

Make sure you are a current member of STFM.
Fill out the online application form in September–October 2025.
Complete the two-part essay (max 500 words per section) within the online application form answering the questions, "Why are you interested in teaching family medicine?" and "How do you think you can make a difference in the future of family medicine?"
