February 3, 2026 — STFM is accepting applications for a director of mentorship for the popular and growing Behavioral Science/Family Systems Educator Fellowship (BFEF). The fellowship offers training, tools, and mentorship for new faculty responsible for coordinating or teaching the behavioral science/family systems curriculum.The director of mentorship serves a 3-year term starting May 2027 at the STFM Annual Spring Conference. The director will be asked to start in May 2026 at the STFM Annual Spring Conference for 1 year of shadowing with the current director of mentorship. The director of mentorship will be reimbursed up to $600 in travel expenses to attend the STFM Annual Spring Conference during their term.

Responsibilities of BFEF Director of Mentorship
- Recruiting small group mentors and offer support to the small group mentors throughout the fellowship year
- Recruiting fellows
- Developing fellowship curriculum
- Participate in training the fellows during the year
- Attend three conferences each year: STFM Annual Spring Conference (start of the fellowship), STFM Conference on Practice & Quality Improvement, the following year STFM Annual Spring Conference (graduation and conclusion of the fellowship year)
Overview of the STFM Behavioral Science/Family Systems Educator Fellowship
This competitive, yearlong fellowship is for family medicine faculty who have responsibility for coordinating or teaching the behavioral science/family systems curriculum. Preference is given to applicants with 1–5 years of experience as a faculty member.
